Fukrey Movie

Dreams: Colourful, Lively, Energetic… behave like wild horses. He, who can tame them, is the expert and the rest, just get squished beneath their hooves.. More than often, Destiny is blamed when our dreams are broken. Though, we often hail our hard work when they are successful.. Quite a chancey take on Dreams, isn’t it?

But today I have watched a movie, Fukrey which has taken this Chance and Dreams theory to a much higher level. Here two school failures Hunny and Choocha, win lotteries based upon a dream Choocha sees and Honey decodes!

Yes! You heard me right. Winning lotteries is a habit with them thanks to this unique gift. They decide to take their luck to next level by playing on Bholi Panjaban’s money. Ably or unluckily supported by Zafar, a failed Musician and Lali, a jilted lover.

But, as luck would have it, Choocha is unable to sleep and thus has no dream to share, but under pressure, he makes up a fake dream. Honey decodes the false dream and they lose money, getting trapped in Goon’s world. They can only be saved either by chance or by their own wits. And, to make matters interesting, there is no dearth of either of these qualities in the young men.

The movie, has an unbelievable storyline and yet it is hilarious and easy on mind. Initial few scenes are absolute laugh riot and the genuinely naive looks portrayed by Hunny, Choocha and Lali, made this movie enjoyable.

Be it Lali’s good nature in feeding a drug addict, who steals his bike parts daily or be it the over confidence of Honey or the innocent charm of Priya. Each character fitted the bill perfectly.

It is a situational comedy. Most of the scenes entertain as they are lifted straight from daily life, with chatpata masala of Gaalis and innuendos. Well, the movie is based in East Delhi, and does portray a flavor of lower middle class, with thick accent. And precisely because of this local charm, the movie becomes entertaining.

No, it’s not a good or unique movie. But a real timepass, where you can laugh to your heart’s content and send your mind on a sweet vacation. At times, it’s good to indulge in unintellectual pleasure. All in all a paisa vasool!
